Domestic disturbance leads to husband fatally stabbing wife, police say

A sergeant at the scene said the man tried to kill himself after fatally stabbing her, but failed in his attempt.

SAN ANTONIO — A woman was stabbed to death late Tuesday night and police say her husband is responsible.

San Antonio Police were called out to the 200 block of Channing Street, in between S Gevers Street and S New Braunfels, around 11 p.m. for reports of a domestic disturbance.

When officers arrived at the location, they found the wife had been stabbed. The victim, a woman in her 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe some sort of altercation occurred between the couple and the man fatally stabbed her. Police say the man, also in his 60s, then tried to kill himself. He was unsuccessful and taken to the hospital to be treated for his wounds.

The sergeant at the scene said this was an attmepted murder-suicide.

It remains under investigation by police.
