SWAT situation over domestic disturbance on the west side cleared by police

Officers cleared the scene after four hours deciding not to escalate the situation saying they knew who the suspect was and would catch him at another time.

SAN ANTONIO — Officers were involved in a SWAT standoff on the west side of town, not far from Our Lady of the Lake University, early Tuesday morning.

San Antonio Police responded to the 4300 block of Cesar Chavez Way around 1 a.m. for reports of a shooting in progress.

When officers arrived at the home, they found out that a man who was arguing with his girlfriend pulled out a gun and walked out to the porch, then fired off two shots into the air.

He reportedly went back inside and led the girlfriend back to the bedroom and locked the door.

Police say the girl's sister was locked in another bedroom and the rest of the family were able to get out of the house. Police say this is not a hostage situation, that both of the women remained inside willingly.

Officers cleared the scene after four hours deciding not to escalate the situation saying they knew who the suspect was and would catch him at another time. Officers said a report was written for Discharging a Firearm in a Municipality.

This is a developing story.
