SAN ANTONIO — A man driving a truck accompanied by two children was involved in a major crash on the east side late Sunday night after his truck suffered a blowout, police say.
San Antonio Police officers responded to the bridge on North New Braunfels Avenue at Burleson Street around 11:26 p.m. for reports of a crash.
The crash was determined to be an accident after police evaluated the driver for DWI at the scene. Officers say the tire blowout is what caused the crash.
Officers say it's miraculous that the man and woman in the SUV survived the head-on crash, given the severity of the scene.
Firefighters had to cut through the roof and doors of the SUV to get the couple out. They were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.
At this time, the crash remains under investigation.
No charges will be filed agianst the driver.
