Driver suspected of DWI hits woman in Walmart parking lot, police say

Police say the woman is a store employee and was either on her break or just getting off work when she was struck by a car.

SAN ANTONIO — A woman is in the hospital after she was hit by a suspected drunk driver in an east-side Walmart parking lot late Monday evening.

San Antonio Police responded to the store located in the 2100 block of Southeast Loop 410 near Rigsby Avenue around 11:11 p.m. for reports of someone being hit by a vehicle.

Officers say the woman, who is in her 40s, is a store employee and was either on her break or just getting off work when she was struck by a car. She was found seriously injured in the pick-up area of the parking lot.

Its unclear how fast the man was driving when he crashed into her, but it was fast and serious enough to send her to the hospital from the scene.

The driver, a man inhis 20s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of being intoxicated while driving.
