About a week after the wife of Spurs coach Gregg Popovich passed away, the details of Erin Popovich’s memorial service have been announced. It will be held on Friday, May 18, at the Cadet Catholic Chapel of the United States Air Force Academy. The service will not be open to the public.
Erin Popovich passed away on April 18. She was 67. She is survived by her husband of 42 years and two children.
Her obituary stated that she met her husband at the Air Force Academy. Her father, Jim I. Conboy, was an athletic trainer there. Gregg Popovich was the basketball team captain in his senior year at Air Force.
"She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who derived great joy from her family and friends," the obituary stated. "She was a special person that provided much laughter and advice for all."
Even though the service is in Colorado and the Popovich family is not accepting flowers, there is a way you can support the family. According to the obituary, memorial contributions can be made to CHEST Foundation, or ThriveWell Cancer Foundation of San Antonio.
