1 hospitalized after Friday night explosion in on northwest side

Officials told KENS 5 a failing carbon dioxide tank is to blame for the incident.

SAN ANTONIO — An explosion on the city's northwest side Friday evening sent one person to the hospital to be treated for injuries. 

The windows were blown out at a business off Rocky Point Drive, west of I-10 near Zavala, that processes blood and tissue products. According to fire officials, a carbon dioxide tank failed at around 6:30 p.m., resulting in the explosion.
