Family got out safely from fast-moving fire on northeast side

Firefighters say the family dog made it out safely too.

SAN ANTONIO — A family made it out safely from a fast-moving fire on the northeast side of town, officials say.

San Antonio Firefighters responded to reports of a fire on the 4900 block of Dare Lane near Nacogdoches Road around 2:23 a.m. Sunday.

Firefighters arrived to find the home filled with smoke. They were able to locate the source of the fire in one of the rooms and extinguish the flames quickly.

Officials say the family made it out of the house safely. The family dog also made it out of the home without injury.

Investigators were called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.

The home sustained moderate damage but no dollar amount was given.

SAFD is assisting the occupants with finding a place to stay for the night.

This is a developing story.
