'If my mom can hear this, know that I love you' | 10-year-old pleas for answers as mother has been missing for more than a month

"I just want some peace and some closure for this, give this 10-year-old some peace that her mom is okay, or her mom isn't okay," said Annie Salcido, Jeanie's mom.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Police are asking for help finding a missing 32-year-old woman, last seen north of Downtown.

Police say Jeanie Chavez has been missing more than a month, and was last seen on Aganier Avenue, on July 15.

"I try not thinking about it, because it gets me sad," said Leah Garcia, Jeanie's 10-year-old daughter.

Garcia talked about how her mother's disappearance has affected her.

"Like I wake up all sweaty and like, I'm worried and stuff, and like I can't sleep," said Garcia.

Chavez was last seen at her boyfriend's house on Aganier Avenue on July 15. Chavez's mother, Annie Salcido who lives in California says her daughter has been struggling with addiction.

"She's an amazing person who lost her way a little bit, and has just kind of turned into hanging out with some different people, that have just not been good for her life," said Salcido.

Salcido says things were looking up for Jeanie, and she was about to get help by going into rehab.

"She was kind of excited about it. She had a conversation with her daughter, who's 10, and basically just said, 'you know mom, I'm done. I'm tired. You know I really want to go,'" said Salcido.

That was on July 15, Salcido says the next day she got a text from Jeanie's boyfriend stating Jeanie didn't want to go to rehab, but was embarrassed to tell her.

"My daughters never been embarrassed enough to tell us anything. Like she doesn't have that kind of embarrassment where she's going to say, you know, not tell us where she's going. Like, she would have called us and told us that herself, so that was one red flag," said Salcido.

Calls to Jeanie's phone went unanswered, about a week later Salcido says Jeanie's boyfriend called her.

"He said, Jeanie left my house. She's no longer here, and I said, What do you mean she's no longer here? She didn't want to be here. She left, somebody picked her up," said Salcido.

Salcido says Jeanie's boyfriend claims she left on July 17, but was too upset to call her then.  The boyfriend claims she was picked up by the same person that dropped her off, but Salcido says she spoke with that friend and he told her he did drop her off, but never picked her up.

Concerned, Salcido called San Antonio police.

"I just kept begging and begging. Please, you know, let a detective pick up this case, and please look into this like there's. She's not just missing, something's wrong," said Salcido.

Salcido says Jeanie left behind things she would never leave behind, photos, a journal, and her cell phone.  Salcido says she has never gone this long without speaking to her.

"I just want to know, and I just want some peace and some closure for this. Give this 10 year-old some peace that her mom is okay, or her mom isn't okay," said Salcido.

Leah also has a plea for anyone watching that has information about her mother.

"If anybody has her, please call us. If my mom can hear this, know that I love you, and you're going to be okay," said Garcia.

If you have any information about where Jeanie could be, your urged to contact San Antonio's Missing Person Unit at 210-207-7660.
