PUEBLO, Colo. — A 9-year-old boy died after he ran across a highway and was hit by a semi-truck early Monday morning, according to Colorado State Patrol.
The crash happened before sunrise, at 5:27 a.m. on Highway 50 about five miles east of Pueblo.
The boy attempted to cross the highway from the Oakwood Estates Mobile Home Park and was struck by a semi-truck driver going west on Highway 50. The driver is from the Pueblo area, CSP said.
The boy died at the scene. His identity will be released by the Pueblo County Coroner's Office.
No charges were filed against the semi-truck driver, who stayed at the scene.
CSP didn't say if the boy lives at the mobile home park or why he was on the highway before dawn.
The crash is under investigation.
