Fight between neighbors gets physical, ends with one barricaded inside apartment, police say

Police were able to take the suspect into custody without incident.

SAN ANTONIO — A fight between some neighbors got physical and ended with a standoff between one of the neighbors and police after he pulled out a gun and threatened people, police say.

San Antonio Police responded to the Connally Apartments located on the 5300 block of NW Loop 410 at Rolling Dale Drive around 9 p.m. Saturday for reports of a disturbance.

Police say a group of neighbors got into a verbal disturbance which then led to a physical altercation. A man involved in the fight pulled out a gun and pointed it at the others trying to stop the fight, police say. The other men went back inside their apartments and the suspect fired off a few shots into the air, then fled to his apartment.

Police arrived and tried to make contact with the suspect, but he refused to come out of his apartment. Officers tried to get him to come out but he continued to refuse. Several hours went by after which time police were able to speak with a woman inside the apartment and convince her and the man to exit the apartment.

Police took the suspect, a man in his 30s, into custody without incident. He is facing multiple charges.

Police say the two residents who tried breaking up the fight were treated by EMS for injuries they received while breaking up the fight.

No other injuries were reported and police continue the investigation. Police do not know what started the fight.

This is a developing story.
