Fight between neighbors sends two to hospital with gunshot wounds, police say

A 19-year-old man and a woman in her 30s were both shot by the neighbor after a confrontation about a gathering at the south-side home.

SAN ANTONIO — A fight between neighbors leads to a shooting on the south side of town, sending two to the hospital, police say.

San Antonio Police responded to the 1400 block of Caballero Drive near South Zarzamora Street around 12:54 a.m. Monday for reports of a disturbance between neighbors.

When officers arrived at the home, they found a 19-year-old man and a woman in her 30s had both been shot by the neighbor after a confrontation about a gathering at the south-side home.

The victims were both taken to University Hospital. The teen was in critical condition and the woman was stable.

Police are looking into claims the neighbor, a man in his 40s, was defending himself when he fired his gun. He allegedly had a problem with a gathering that was underway at the home next door to his.

Police say when he confronted his neighbors about it, a fight broke out. The neighbor pulled out a gun and fired off multiple shots, telling police he felt threatened.

The neighbor was detained by police for questioning.
