SAN ANTONIO — A body was found inside a home where an early morning fire caused an estimated $60,000 in damages on the west side of town Tuesday.
San Antonio firefighters responded to the 800 block of Northwest 20th Street near West Martin Street around 1:30 a.m. for reports of a house fire.
A neighbor across the street, Priscilla Hernandez ran from her home when she heard sirens.
"I don’t even know, I think I was washing dishes. I was soaking wet and I still came out here running,” Hernandez said.
Officials say that a neighbor called 911 when they noticed the home was on fire. Initially, firefighters believed that nobody was home at the time of the fire. Sadly, a body was found inside. No word on the identity of the victim.
No word on what may have caused the fire to start.
The damages are estimated to be at least $60,000.
This is a developing story.
