SAN ANTONIO — One house was destroyed, another heavily damaged after fire ripped through a vacant home on the southwest side of town late Tuesday.
San Antonio firefighters responded to the 200 block of Briggs Avenue near Somerset Road around 10:48 p.m. for reports of a unauthorized burn.
However, when crews arrived, they found heavy flames coming from a vacant home and starting to spread to the house next door. Officials say the firefighters had water pressure problems from the hydrants near the home.
Thankfully, both homes were vacant, but neighbors say homeless people have been staying in them. The main structure is a complete loss, and the second home sustained about $20,000 worth of damage to the back corner of the house.
No word yet on what caused the fires.
This is a developing story.
