SAFD contains flames after detached garage catches fire near Phil Hardberger Park

Investigators are looking into what caused the fire.
Fire crews were able to stop the fire from spreading to the home.

SAN ANTONIO — A detached garage caught fire on the city's northside early Friday morning, authorities said. 

San Antonio firefighters responded to a call for a fire around 3:15 a.m. on the 1000 block of Serenata Circle just off Wurzbach Parkway. 

When fire crews arrived a detached garage was burning. 

Officials said firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby houses. 

Fire officials said the fire appeared to have started in a trash can. The cause of the fire is under investigation. 

No injuries were reported.
