Fire crews battle 2-alarm fire at Medical Center apartment complex Friday morning

Authorities say the fire started on the third floor of one of the buildings. That building has since been evacuated.

SAN ANTONIO — Fire crews were battling a two-alarm fire at a northwest-side apartment complex Friday morning, according to authorities.

The fire started around 4 a.m. at the Preston Peak Apartments located at 4114 Medical Drive. The fire can reportedly be seen from as far as 410 and West Avenue.

Authorities say the fire started on the third-floor balcony of one of the units. That building has since been evacuated.

A reporter at the scene said he counted 10 fire trucks at the scene. He also says the fire has been put out and that they are now putting out hot spots.

SAFD says that 24 units were affected and 22 of those were occupied. Red Cross and the apartment manager are assisting those displaced.

No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
