Fire breaks out at north-side home for a second time in two days, SAFD says

No one was hurt in the fire, but it did take about an hour to get it under control.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio firefighters put out a fire at a home on the north side for the second time in two days, officials said.

The fire broke out around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of Charlisas Way in a gated community off Blanco Road.

Fire crews arrived to find flames shooting out of the attic. No one was hurt in the fire, but it did take about an hour to get it under control. Fire officials say crews were also called out to the same location Monday.

We did have a fire out here yesterday. It was back on the wooden porch in the back that caught fire. We got it out pretty quickly, but again today we're back out here," Captain Ronnie Burrier of SAFD said.

Captaini Burrier said the son of the deceased homeowner has been living in the home without electricity for a few months. The man was able to get out safely and no one else was inside at the time. Fire officials say the man said he may have dropped a cigarette inside, sparking the flames.

The captain says they are looking at options to help the man displaced by the fire. He says the home is likely a total loss.
