Dog and four kittens rescued from fire on west side, SAFD says

The fire destoyed a shed, and damaged the backside of the home.

SAN ANTONIO — Firefighters rescued four kittens and a dog from a fire on the west side of town late Tuesday night.

San Antonio Fire Department was called out to the 100 block of Riverdale Drive near St. Mary's University for reports of a structure fire around 11:30 p.m.

When firefighters arrived at the home, they found a shed on fire in the backyard. They were able to rescue a dog and four kittens. The shed burned to the ground and spread to a neighbor's shed, damaging it as well.

The backside of the home was also damaged by the flames. Officials say that a power line was also damaged.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.

This is a developing story.
