Minimal damages caused by fire at laundromat and restaurant on west side

Firefighters say they found the fire burning in the back of the property near a broken window with burglar bars.

SAN ANTONIO — A fire at a restaurant and laundromat on the west side of town spread smoke throughout the stores early Wednesday morning.

It happened just before 4 a.m. in the 1800 block of West Commerce Street near South San Jacinto Street. 

Firefighters say they found the fire burning in the back of the property near a broken window with burglar bars and smoke filling the property. Firefighters quickly put out the flames and no one was injured. 

No word on the amount of damages caused by the fire. The health inspector was called out to take a look at the restaurant.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
