Firearm seized from student at Brandeis High School

The district released a statement to parents after a student reportedly had a gun on campus.

SAN ANTONIO — A student was found to be in possession of a firearm while on campus at Brandeis High School, according to district officials who notified parents of the situation in a Wednesday message.

"I share this information with you in the spirit of transparency, but also to assure you that this individual will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law," Brandeis Principal Geri Berger said in the message.

According to NISD, reports were made to administration that a student was possibly in possession of a weapon. NISD police immediately located the student and found the gun on them, but district officials said there was no threat made against anyone on campus.

"We will continue to remain vigilant to ensure our campus is safe. I want to commend the Brandeis  HS students and staff who continue to show great responsibility and concern by reporting this information to school officials. Working together, we can ensure that our campus remains safe," Berger said in her message.
