Firefighters battle early morning fire on southwest-side

Officials estimate the damage to the home to be around $75,000.

SAN ANTONIO —  Firefighters battled heavy smoke and flames at a southwest-side home early Wednesday morning.

San Antonio firefighters responded to the 200 block of Mclaughlin Avenue near Southwest Military Drive around 2 a.m. for reports of a fire at a home.

Firefighters arrived to heavy smoke and fire coming from the home. They say that nobody was in the house at the time. 

Officials say the homeowner's son was staying there for the last couple of days to keep an eye on the house. 

Fire investigation is on the scene looking for the cause. Officials estimate the damage to the home to be around $75,000.

No injuries were reported.
