Firefighters believe fire may have been intentionally set after abandoned home destroyed

The Battalion Chief says this is not the first time they have been to the location.

SAN ANTONIO — Firefighters believe a fire may have been set intentionally after it destroys an abandoned home just west of downtown late Monday.

The San Antonio Fire Department responded to the 3100 block of West Houston Street near West Commerce Street around 11 :10 p.m. for reports of a house fire.

When first responders arrived, the abandoned home was fully engulfed in flames. Officials say there was just a fire in the back of the home two days ago, and no utilities were going to the house.

Officials believe the fire may have been intentionally set. Firefighters brought the structure to to ground.

No injuries were reported.  The home is said to be a total loss and arson investigators are on the scene.

This is a developing story.
