Firefighters rescue at least two people trapped in fire, two dogs still missing

The two people rescued are being treated for smoke inhalation, and officials say two more were able to get out safely on their own.

SAN ANTONIO — At least two people were rescued by firefighters from a house fire on the west side of town Wednesday afternoon, and officials say two others were able to get out on their own. Sadly, two dogs are reported missing at this time.

The San Antonio Fire Department responded to the 100 block of Maiden Lane near Culebra Road around 11:30 a.m. for reports of a home on fire.

When firefighters first arrived at the house, there was heavy fire and reports of three people possibly trapped inside the burning home.

Officials say that two people were able to make it out of the home on their own, and two others were rescued by firefighters. They were both evaluated by EMS for smoke inhalation, and one had to taken to the hospital as a precaution.

There was no word on what may have caused the fire, which began in the back of the home. Also no estimate on the amount of damage caused by the blaze.

Crews are still looking for the two dogs that were reported missing.

This is a developing story.
