Firefighters rescue homeless woman sleeping in dumpster, emptied into trash truck

A dump truck was picking up the dumpster, and emptying it into the truck when they heard screaming from inside it.

SAN ANTONIO — The homeless have it hard enough already, but one woman was awakened in a way early Wednesday morning in a memorable way.

The woman was sleeping in a dumpster off Vance Jackson near Loop 410 when a garbage crew picked up the dumpster to empty it, and she ended up dumped inside the truck with the trash.

As the trash started to compact, the crew said they heard her screams for help and immediately stopped it immediately.

Firefighters had to dig her out from the trash and then she was able to climb out on her own using a ladder.

They say she refused medical aid and was released.
