Two firefighters injured in scrapyard fire that took 14 hours to put out

Footage shows massive plumes of fire and black smoke coming from the facility.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth firefighters put out a scrapyard fire after more than 14 hours.

According to FWFD, firefighters were called to a large fire at the Texas Industrial Scrap Metal yard in the 3800 block of North Commerce Street.

Footage showed massive plumes of fire and black smoke coming from the area.

According to fire officials, some of the crews had just put out a structure fire with River Oaks when they responded to the scrapyard scene. FWFD says more than 175 fire personnel responded to the call.

Two of the responding firefighters were injured fighting the blaze, but they are expected to make full recoveries, according to FWFD.

More than 14 hours later at 4:17 a.m. Saturday, the scene was declared completed, officials say.
