Five dogs rescued from mobile home fire on south side of town

The dogs were in a kennel area next to the mobile home.

ELMENDORF, Texas — Firefighters rescued five dogs from a mobile home fire in Elmendorf before quickly knocking down the fire Sunday night.

Bexar County Emergency Services District firefighters and Bexar County Sheriff’s Office both responded to the 3800 block of Waterwood Pass in Elmendorf around 10:40 p.m. for reports of a fire.

When crews arrived, the mobile home was engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly saved five dogs from a kennel area next to the home and kept the fire from spreading to a vehicle and a motorhome parked next to the structure.

They were able to knock down the fire quickly.

The residents were not home at the time of the fire.

Investigators are searching for the cause, however at this time they believe it may have started in a chicken coop.

No estimate on the amount of damages caused at this time.

This is a developing story.
