Pizza deliver robbery

San Marcos Police say five men robbed a pizza delivery driver earlier this month.

On April 7, around 5:00 p.m., police say the driver was delivering pizza to the Aqua 16 apartments on Aquarena Springs Drive.

When the delivery driver arrived at the apartment, police say the residents said they did not order a pizza.

Then, the delivery driver called the number on the order and the person who answered told him to go to another apartment. Police say when the man went to the other apartment, two men came up to him. One them acted as if he was going to pay for the pizza.

Police say when the delivery driver went to unload the pizza boxes from his carrier, the other man hit him in the back of the head with a large metal water bottle. Police say both men ran off with the pizza and money bag.

The delivery driver had some minor injuries and was treated at the scene by EMS.

San Marcos investigators determined through surveillance video the men were staying at a nearby Motel 6.

Police arrested Da Lavon Lamar Scruggs and say Scruggs implicated four other men in the robbery.

Later, police arrested Andrew Douglas Jones, Jr., Deshaun Adriel Moorer, Daniel Cornelius Hagans, and Sean Austin Garrett.

Police say all five were students at Gary Job Corps, an on-the-job training program. They were charged with aggravated assault.
