SAN ANTONIO — Mohammed Shideed had worked for five years to establish a food truck in San Antonio. He finally opened "Lokmas" in February. A Lokma is an Egyptian-style donut hole that Shideed would eat while out with friends back home. His mother also made them at home.
"We used to eat these all the time going out and I was like, man, we need to have these in San Antonio," Shideed said. "I wanted to bring that part of my culture to S-A."
A Lokma is like a donut hole that is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They are topped with honey or syrup. Shideed said he was establishing a customers base at his location off Tezel road and everything was going well.
Then he drove by his location Wednesday morning and the truck was gone.
"I couldn't believe it. How did somebody steal it. Why would they steal it. What do I do?" Shideed said.
Fortunately, the location was next to a Brevity Coffee that had lighting and working security cameras. The security camera footage clearly shows a truck pulling into the parking lot multiple times before hooking up to the trailer and towing it away.
Shideed now just hopes someone will see the truck and call it in after he had worked so hard to make his dream a reality.
"You started it yourself with your two hands and your hard work. Lots of long nights building the truck out from the inside and building the equipment and making sure everything works," Shideed said. "My dream scenario is getting a phone call that says somebody found it and it's in good shape."
