SAN ANTONIO — A warrant has been issued for a former NEISD employee, school officials say.
A letter from the school principal Gary Comalander was sent to parents on Monday.
Comalander says a paraprofessional assistant came forward last month and reported that she and a Johnson High School student were exchanging inappropriate pictures through a social media platform.
The school district says they immediately contacted the North East Police Department and officers launched an investigation.
Child Protective Services and the student's family were also contacted.
The employee chose to resign in lieu of termination that same day, Comalander says.
NEPD has determined there was no physical contact and no one else was involved.
District officials say the employee now faces charges related to child grooming.
"We hold our staff members to the highest standards of behavior, especially when it comes to our students. We are extremely disappointed but know this is not reflective of the many fantastic staff members we have here at Johnson High School," Comalander says.
No other information was provided.
