SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA Roadrunners and one of the men who helped lead the football team for four years are set to kickoff a new chapter.
After retiring from the sport following UTSA's historic first bowl game win over Marshall in December, Frank Harris confirmed to KENS5 that he would help the team with fundraising efforts with a Name, image and likeness program with City Fans 210.
In January, KENS5 sports reporter Nate Ryan confirmed that Harris had plenty of options once he was done suiting up for the Birds. Reportedly, Harris had offers to coach at UTSA alongside Head Coach Jeff Traylor and at Clemens High School where he graduated from in 2017.
Harris, the red shirt senior last season, led UTSA to a 9-4 record, for most of the year, but injuries would see the Roadrunners be guided under center at times by redshirt sophomore Eddie Lee Marburger and Redshirt freshman Owen McCown. Harris would miss the final game against Marshall with an injury coaches say had nagged at him since the final conference game at Tulane.
While Harris did not suit up for the game, his absence was kept a secret until after the game where his head coach said everyone on the team kept the news on a need-to-know basis.
According to a press release by the PM Group, Harris will make the announcement officially at a press conference at 10 a.m. on Monday on the UTSA campus alongside his former teammates.
