Navy veteran found dead in San Antonio will be laid to rest in hometown

Jarvis McIntire's body was mysteriously found in a wooded area on the northeast side off Holbrook Road.

SAN ANTONIO — A navy veteran who died in San Antonio will be laid to rest Friday afternoon.

Funeral services for 26-year-old Jarvis McIntire will be held in his hometown of St. Louis at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Last month, McIntire traveled here from St. Louis to celebrate his birthday. Days later his body was found in a wooded area on the northeast side off Holbrook Road.

The circumstances leading up to his death remain suspicious and it’s not clear how he died.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner performed an autopsy a few days later. Officials said the results came back inconclusive as there was no apparent cause or manner of death.

McIntire's family flew his body back home to Missouri. The family then requested a second autopsy, and a toxicology report.

KENS 5 has not received those results and it is unclear if the tests have been completed.

While detectives do not suspect foul play in his death, his family told KENS 5 they believe someone may have hurt him based off of his skin color or his sexual orientation.

McIntire's family want police to investigate his death further but at this time no new information has been provided on his case.

If you know anything about this case you are urged to call San Antonio police.
