SAN ANTONIO — At this year’s San Antonio Stock show and Rodeo. Justin Calderon is wrangling up some big flavor: Things that will make you “pig” out and will put a “yee-haw” in your jaw!
“Man, we are really excited about the food options we have for all of our guests coming out,” said Derrick Adams, this year’s festival officer for the rodeo. “We probably have over 40 different food vendors.”
On the grounds, a patron can find anything and everything. From succulent brisket to boba tea. Funnel cakes, skewers, fried rice, Korean corn dogs, and nachos. So many options that will bust your belt, including a giant smoked beef rib. Or a “Dino-rib” from Davila’s BBQ from Seguin.
“Is it better than what you can make at home?” Justin asked one rodeo-goer while eating the beef rib. “Yeah, this is better. Well… it might come close,” he jokingly said.
“Anything you get out here is a pretty unique experience,” Adams said.
Justin asked other visitors what their rodeo favorite food are.
“Funnel cakes, you have to get funnel cakes and turkey legs,” one person said.
“Brisket Tacos, the meat is really tender,” an Eagle Pass couple said.
“The Korean corn dog was amazing!” said another.
“It’s my second turkey leg of the day!” one said with a full mouth.
“I encourage everybody to do what I do” Adams said. “Find a new booth and a new vendor and try something new because it may end up being your new rodeo favorite that you can’t wait until next year to get.”
It’s not too late to try all this food. The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo runs through Sunday, February 25.
