GALVESTON, Texas — A 20-year-old Dickinson woman drowned early Sunday morning after she either jumped or fell into the water near a rock jetty, according to Galveston Island Beach Patrol.
Beach patrol received a call about a missing swimmer near Tower 47 at around 12:30 a.m. Witnesses called 911 after they said they lost sight of her in the water. After a quick search, beach patrol said the Galveston Police Department found the woman floating face down on the east side of the jetty.
Emergency responders brought her back to shore and attempted CPR before she was transported to an area hospital. She was later pronounced dead.
Her identity has not yet been released.
