Grandmother and grandson injured in Converse house fire, officials say

The fire may have been stared by an oven that was left on, according to neighbors.

CONVERSE, Texas — Two people were injured in a house fire early Thursday morning in Converse, officials say.

The Converse Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire around 6:30 a.m. in the 9800 block of Delta Ridge Drive, not far from O'Connor Road.

When firefighters arrived, flames were visible in the home.

A grandmother and her grandson who were inside the home were both injured by the blaze. They were both taken to a hospital for their injuries. The homeowner told KENS 5 he was at the hospital with his wife and grandson, thankfully they’ll both make a full recovery.

Officials say the house is a complete loss and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Bexar County Fire Marshall's Office says the damage to the home is about $340,000. Damage to the neighbor's home is estimated at $10,000.
