The gun was discovered after a report from an anonymous tip line that a student had brought a weapon to school.

SAN ANTONIO — A gun was found Friday on the campus of Brackenridge High School, according to San Antonio ISD officials.

The gun was discovered after a report from an anonymous tip line that a student had brought a weapon to school. School administration and SAISD Police Department investigated and found the weapon in a car in the parking lot.

SAISD officials said the student was detained and is no longer on the campus. There is no word on whether the student will be charged. No one was harmed in the incident.

Below is the letter sent to Brackenridge High School families:

Dear Families,

I want to inform you of an incident that affected our campus today. It was reported through our anonymous tip line that a student may have brought a weapon to school. Administration and our SAISD Police Department immediately investigated and secured the weapon from a vehicle in the parking lot. A student was detained and is no longer on campus.

We take this type of incident very seriously and appropriate disciplinary action has been taken. We want to take this opportunity to ask that you please help us reinforce with your child the message that these types of items should never be brought to school property to help ensure the safety of all students.

Student safety is a top priority at SAISD schools, and we want to keep families informed of situations as soon as we are able. We thank you for your support and understanding.

Sincerely,

Noemi Davila, Principal
