HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A high-ranking member of the Harris County Sheriff's Office was arrested again Friday in The Woodlands after violating an emergency protection order, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said.
HCSO Chief of Staff Jason Spencer is accused of assaulting his teenage son during an argument at his home last year. He was charged with injury to a child earlier this month following an investigation.
According to court documents, Spencer was angry after the 14-year-old slammed his bedroom door following an argument with his brother last September.
He slammed his son against a wall and threw a gun case at the boy's back as he ran down the stairs, causing him to fall, court documents say. The teen told investigators his father then chased him from room to room and held him down.
The boy called for his mother to pick him up and she's the one who called 911. He had scratches and bruises on his face, arm and back, according to Houston police.
As part of his bond conditions, Spencer was ordered to stay away from the teen. MCSO said someone in The Woodlands called to say Spencer had violated the order and was outside a family member's house. When deputies arrived, they said Spencer was still in his car and parked in front of the home.
After Spencer's arrest earlier this month, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez defended him.
"While I'm not aware of all the facts in this case ... I've known and worked with Jason for years and based on what we know at this time, I have every confidence that the charges will not be sustained," Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said when the charges were filed.
Gonzalez went on to say he'll continue to monitor the investigation.
