The much-anticipated grocery delivery service, InstaCart, started operating at 9 different zip codes in San Antonio including the area near the Alon Market HEB Thursday. The general manager said the company saw a demand in San Antonio for this kind of service.

"I'm a parent, I have two children, my wife and I work. For us we saw the value," said Chad Shepler, Instacart General Manager.

KENS 5 followed Instacart shopper John Nabers who picked out food for one of the company's first customers. You can simply order the request online or through the app and shoppers like Nabers can access the list on his smartphone to shop for you.

"It has the customers name and everything that they asked for," said Nabers.

Within an hour, Instacart guarantees your groceries will be delivered. Shipt, the second company partnering with HEB operates the same as InstaCart. The company will start deliveries on May 25th.

"We're so excited to be launching here in San Antonio with our partner HEB. We were drawn to them because they obviously have the highest quality products but they also share the commitment to support the local communities," said Anne Adams, Shipt

You can check the coverage areas for both companies online. Instacart requires a $5.99 fee per delivery. Shipt requires a one-time $99 membership fee for unlimited grocery delivery for a year.

Right now, there is a coupon available on Shipt's website if you sign up before May 25th. Instacart is offering a coupon for KENS5 viewers. Use kenstv15 when you make your online order. The code expires in two weeks from May 12th.
