SAN ANTONIO -- The Seguin Police Department captured a high-ranking member of the Texas-Mexican Mafia on March 23 after a call about shots fired in the 700 block of Roberts street.
According to a release, Jessie Salazar III was arrested around 6 a.m. as he attempted to leave the scene in a vehicle. Officers charged Salazar III with burglary with intent to commit a felony, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, resisting arrest, deadly conduct and retaliation for threatening a police officer.
A search warrant of a residence on Allende street led investigators to seize multiple computers, laptops, electronic storage devices, 29 grams of meth and more than $10,000 in cash, according to the release. Salazar III's wife, Kathy, was arrested at the residence and charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance.
Kathy's bond was set at $25,000 and Jessie's was set at $500,000. Kathy was bonded out of Guadalupe County Jail while Jessie still remains there, according to the release.
Additional charges and arrests are possible, according to the release.
Seguin police also say that since 2009, violent crime is down 49 percent in the city, and drug arrests are up by 200 percent, showing officers are working hard to kick crime out.
