MEDINA COUNTY, Texas — Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a high-speed chase led by a possible human smuggler in Medina County, authorities say.
Medina County Sheriff Randy Brown said Frio County deputies attempted to pull over a loaded vehicle around 2:30p.m. when the driver fled.
According to Brown migrants started bailing out of the vehicle as it was traveling at high speeds.
One migrant was taken to a local hospital after being injured when he jumped out of the vehicle.
Two migrants are in custody.
According to Brown, the driver identified as 28-year-old Cristian Villalobos was stopped along I-35 and Eisenhauer in San Antonio. The driver was arrested and will be charged with human smuggling and most likely evading arrest.
Brown said this is the third chase today with a suspected human smuggler.
San Antonio police assisted during the high-speed chase.
Police say this is an active investigation.
This is a developing story.
