Horse trapped in California basement rescued by emergency crews

Officials say the horse was stuck after falling through a 22-inch opening in an abandoned grand silo.

YOLO COUNTY, Calif. — A horse was rescued after it fell into a basement of an abandoned grain silo in Yolo County.

According to El Dorado Search and Rescue, the Yolo County Animal Services Shelter requested aid from multiple agencies regarding the stuck horse. Officials said the horse was in the basement after falling through a 22-inch long opening inside the grain silo sometime in the past week. 

When help arrived, technical equipment including an animal tripod was used to rescue the horse from the basement.

Photos shared by officials show the horse being lifted from the tripod and receiving care from crews.
