Family of four displaced after fire starts in garage

Crews were able to contain the fire to the garage area, but the house sustained heavy smoke damage.

SAN ANTONIO — A family's home caught on fire, and the San Antonio Fire Department said it appears to have started in the garage.

The fire broke out around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday in the 200 block of Oriole Lane on the city's northwest side.

Crews were able to contain the fire to the garage area, but the house sustained heavy smoke damage, displacing two adults and their two kids.

The fire appears to have started in a dryer in the garage. One person was evaluated for smoke inhalation, but no one was taken to a hospital.
