SAN ANTONIO — Space heaters may have been the cause of a house fire in the downtown area Wednesday, officials say.
Firefighters were called to the 100 block of Cadwallader Street around 11:10 a.m. for a structure fire with smoke reportedly coming from inside the house.
Upon arrival, crews say they saw flames coming from the front bedroom of the house. Firefighters were able to quickly knock it down and save some valuables from the home.
Officials say there is smoke damage throughout the house and heavy damage to two bedrooms.
An elderly man was able to escape the fire and no injuries were reported.
Officials believe this was an accidental fire that was possibly caused by space heaters.
