CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — On Monday, a city worker discovered human remains at a wastewater lift station off Lexington and Holly Road.
The location of the remains has fueled speculation as to whether it could be connected to the disappearance of 21-year-old Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi student Caleb Harris, last seen at his apartment just a couple hundred yards away.
It has been confirmed that Caleb's father, Randy Harris, has been made aware for the findings and is waiting on DNA results. However, there is still no evidence that these remains are linked to Caleb Harris' disappearance.
Here's what we know
- The Corpus Christi Fire Department worked until at least 1 a.m. Tuesday trying to recover the remains.
- The discovered remains led police to the the Greenwood Wastewater Treatment Plant, where they continued their investigation.
- The remains will be sent to the University of North Texas, which is the missing persons clearing house for the state of Texas, according to Corpus Christi Police Department Chief Mike Markle.
- Corpus Christi Water is a part of the ongoing investigation. Because of this they have declined to speak with 3NEWS.
What is not known at this time
- How the remains ended up at the wastewater lift station.
- How long the remains were in the wastewater lift station before they were discovered.
