'I want justice' | Who killed Oscar Mascorro? Bexar Co. cold case spans 15 years

23-year-old Oscar Mascorro was shot and killed on June 7, 2008 during a fight outside a house party, according to family and the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

SAN ANTONIO — The family of a man killed 15 years ago in the far west side is still waiting for justice.

23-year-old Oscar Mascorro was shot and killed during a fight outside a house party on June 7, 2008, according to family and the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said a suspect was in a vehicle when they pulled out a handgun and shot at Mascorro. He was rushed to the hospital where he died.

Deputies have yet to find the shooter.

Meanwhile, Mascorro’s three kids were left without a father.

“It has been really hard,” Mascorro’s son said.

One of Mascorro’s children spoke with KENS 5 anonymously about losing his father. He said he was just four years old when the shooting happened, and he has no memories of Mascorro.

The mother of Mascorro’s children also spoke out, hoping to bring this case back to life.

“He always wishes like God, how would it be with my dad, here though, I’d be different,” she said.

Investigators with BCSO confirmed the case has gone cold.

“I want justice for him now that my kids are older, you know, I just want some type of closure for him,” she said.

The mother of his children said when Mascorro died, she felt helpless. She said she was unable to care for her children and lost custody.

“It took a big chunk of my life and my children’s life because they lost not only him but me at the same time,” she said.

His son said despite not really knowing his dad, he is striving to make him proud.

“I’m trying to, a day at a time,” he said.

Although this is considered a cold case, BCSO has a cold case investigator who is reviewing all cold cases across the county.
