New music festival arrives to downtown SA in June; see the music lineup here

The event will feature more than 100 vendors selling original art, as well as stages hosting local bands, musicians, comedy acts and food trucks.

SAN ANTONIO — The inaugural San Antonio Art & Music Festival (SAAM Fest) promises to be a "vibrant celebration of creativity" when it arrives downtown on June 15.

SAAM Fest will be held in the old Cavender Cadillac parking lot, located at 827 Broadway, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. According to a press release, the event will feature more than 100 vendors selling original art, two stages hosting performances from local bands, musicians and comedy acts, along with an array of food trucks to pick from.

"We're thrilled to announce the inaugural San Antonio Art & Music Festival," said event organizers from Inebriated Shakespeare Productions (IS Productions) in the release. "This festival is a celebration of the rich tapestry of creativity that defines San Antonio. It's an opportunity for artists, musicians, and the community to come together and revel in the beauty of expression."

Co-founder of the festival Nick Spink told KENS 5 that this was the right time to start the festival as San Antonio has an abundance of talent that deserves their time to shine.

"Being artists and performers ourselves, we saw that San Antonio has many great artists, performers and musicians that do not have a local festival to expose their talents to the community. There is more talent out there than people know about. The time is right because we, as artists, need this."

Spink added that one of their main goals is to open everyone's eyes to the talent we have here in the Alamo City and to hopefully make this an annual event to continue growing the art and music within the community.

Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the nonprofit organization, IS Productions, whose mission is to "entertain and enrich audiences" with modern takes on William Shakespeare while also helping other nonprofits on their missions.

Tickets are on sale right now for $5 on SAAMFest.com but will cost $10 at the gate.
