School confirms 'disturbance' at Incarnate Word administration building

The disturbance involved a current student who has since been detained. The university was never on lockdown.

SAN ANTONIO — A disturbance at the University of the Incarnate Word's administration building has been resolved, the school says.

According to the school, university police were called to the Columkille Administration building at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday morning. The disturbance involved a current student.

The student left the building but was eventually detained off campus.

The Chief of Police has confirmed that the campus was never on lockdown. One office locked its doors and called campus police.

Since the incident involved a current student, no other information will be provided.

An official statement from the university reads: 

“The University of the Incarnate Word Police Department was called around 11:30 this morning to answer a disturbance call involving a student in the Columkille Administration building. The student left the building but was eventually detained at another location off campus. UIWPD worked in coordination with the San Antonio Police Department to resolve the situation without incident. Since this matter involves a current student, the University is unable to provide further information.”
