According to police, the suspect suffered minor injuries.

IRVING, Texas — A car theft suspect was shot early Saturday morning after reportedly ramming into multiple Irving Police vehicles.

According to the Irving Police Department, officers responded to the 1500 block of Meridian Drive around 1:45 a.m. to the report of a car theft.

Police said in a press release that the victim of the theft was chasing the vehicle, which led police to attempt a traffic stop on the car, but the suspect failed to stop.

According to police, officers chased the suspect into the 6500 block of Singleton Boulevard in Grand Prairie and forced them into a dead end.

Police said the suspect then tried to escape by ramming into multiple patrol units and because they showed no intention of getting out of the car, officers opened fire at the suspect.
