Country music star John Michael Montgomery to retire from touring

"I’ve been fortunate and blessed to be able to do what I love for so many years," the Kentucky native said.

DANVILLE, Ky. — A 90s country music star says he's going to wind down touring over the next two years.

In a Facebook post on New Year's Day, John Michael Montgomery announced he would retire from touring after wrapping up in 2024 and 2025.

"It’s been a wonderful run for me from the beginning over 30 years ago in 1992 when my first song 'Life's a Dance' was released to radio, I think either as a 45 vinyl or on a cassette tape," Montgomery said. "CDs had not quite taken over the market yet and the internet was still in its infancy. It amazes me where it is today."

Montgomery is famous for other songs such as:

  • "I Love the Way You Love Me"
  • "Sold"
  • "I Can Love You Like That"
  • "I Swear"
  • "Be My Baby Tonight"
  • "Letters From Home"

"I’ve been fortunate and blessed to be able to do what I love for so many years," the Kentucky native said. "So, please join me on my journey as I say goodbye to the road life."
