She lived a high-profile life as on icon of San Antonio's River Walk.
On Friday, the white-faced duck known as George was memorialized by the group Justice for George.
The group chose the day because it is the Feast of St. Francis, patron saint of animals and nature.
Fans of George gathered to remember the friendly duck and push for justice against the people responsible for George's death.
Members of the group handed out rubber duckies and buttons to those in attendance.
George was half-duck half-goose, and was perhaps the most popular bird on the River Walk because of its white head.
At the service, the group unveiled a plaque engraved with a poem memorializing George.
George was tortured and strangled May 29. Surveillance video afterward showed two men carrying its body.
There is a $15,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of George's killers.
