Dog found with gunshot wound receives successful surgery and is healing with a family, ACS says

According to ACS, Oliver now sports a permanent wink.

SAN ANTONIO — The City of San Antonio Animal Care Services announced on their social media that Oliver, the dog rushed to emergency with a gunshot wound has undergone successful surgery.

The post says Oliver now sports a permanent wink after a procedure was done to remove his damaged eye. ACS also says he is now healing splendidly in a forever home.

The incident took place last week when Animal Care officers responded to a 311 call about a dog spotted injured and disoriented from what was initially believed to be from an attack by another animal.

According to ACS, Oliver's injuries were later discovered to be not from an animal, but a gun.

The ACS vet team confirmed Oliver had a bullet entry wound near his temple. “It’s clear that whoever did this, did not intend for Oliver to survive,” says ACS.

Now ACS is asking the community for help finding the person who shot Oliver. They are asking anyone with information to make a report by calling 311 or through their website here.
