SAN ANTONIO — Since Kerrville is in the direct path of the solar eclipse many city officials are preparing for a large number of visitors on April 8.
According to a press release, the City of Kerrville wants the public to be in place by 10 a.m. for viewing the eclipse as traffic is expected to build on city roads around that time.
The city will be closing multiple roadways in an effort to help push people back towards Interstate 10 once the eclipse event has ended, according to the release.
For those attending the Kerrville Eclipse Festival at Louise Hays Park will have free parking available while spots last at the parking garage located on 201 Clay Street and a parking lot at Butt Holdsworth Memorial Library located on 505 Walter Street.
Officials say there will be closures around Louise Hays Park during the eclipse.
Kerrville roads closed during eclipse:
- Francisco Lemos Street Bridge
- G Street Bridge
- Park Lane from Sidney Baker to La Casa
- Thompson Drive from Sidney Baker to Cully Drive
There will be no vehicle traffic allowed into Louise Hays Park from April 4 - April 9.
Kerrville officials say parking along the roads is not allowed.
Kerrville Pets Alive also advises those traveling out of town with their furry friends to bring plenty of water, a leash and disposable bags in case of traffic delays. Also to make sure they are up to date with all their vaccines and have a collar if they are attending an event with you.
